Mymoorapelta

Mymoorapelta, meaning “Shield of Mygatt-Moore”, is a genus of ankylosaur dinosaur from the Late Jurassic Period (Kimmeridgian/Tithonian stages). It was found in the Morrison Formation of western Colorado. Partial remains of three separate skeletons have been recovered.

There is controversy over the placement of this dinosaur within the group Ankylosauria. It has also been placed in the family group Polacanthidae and has also been named Ankylosauria incertae sedis by others. To date, only a single species is known, which is now referred to as M. maysi. This is one of the earliest known ankylosaurs.
