Hygenhund

The Hygenhund is a breed of domestic hound dog that originated from Norway in the nineteenth century. The breed was developed by a breeder named Hygen, who used multiple breeds of hounds to create a hunting dog that could withstand harsh arctic environments. The breed reaches a height between nineteen to twenty-four inches and an average weight between forty-four to fifty-five pounds. Its body is muscular and it has long legs with small feet. These features enable it to run in a well-balanced manner. The coat of this dog is slightly coarse and typically red, yellow, or copper in color with black or white markings commonly found along the body. It is known for its energetic personality and free spiritedness. The Hygenhund is recognized by the FCI.
