Grand Basset Griffon Vendeen

The Grand Basset Griffon Vendeen is a French hunting dog used for hunting rabbit, hare, boar and deer, as well as for companionship.

The breed generally stands 15 to 17 inches tall. Its coat can be one of several different colors: black with white, black with tan, fawn with white, fawn with black, and pale fawn with white or black overlays.

The breed is known for being a pack dog. Due to its nature it needs plenty of attention from its owner, or if nothing else, a companion animal to spend time with. It is a happy and confident breed, as long as it is not left alone for long periods.

The Grand Basset Griffon Vendeen generally lives around 12 years, and can have several health issues including reproductive problems, dermatologic issues, and aural diseases.
