Giant Golden Mole

The Giant Golden Mole, (Chrysospalax trevelyani) is a species of golden mole found in the forests of Eastern Cape Province in South Africa. It was first collected by Herbert Trevelyanile on a hunting trip near Pirie Forest near King William’s town in British Caffraria. It is currently listed as endangered.

The adult is 10 inches long and is dark chocolate brown above with whitish undercoat. The claws and margin of the lips are also whitish. It is blind and has no external ear lobes. It also has no tail.
