Von der Decken’s Sifaka, Propithecus deckenii
Von der Decken’s sifaka (Propithecus deckenii) is a type of lemur that is native only to the Island of Madagascar. It prefers habitats within arid, deciduous forests. This sifaka has an average body length of 3.5 feet, of which the tail comprises 1.3 to 1.5 feet. Typically, the fur is white in color with hues of yellowish gold, silvery grey, or light brown on the back, limbs, neck, and shoulders. The face of this lemur is completely black. It prefers to live in groups of up to ten individuals, with six being the average number in a group. Von der Decken’s sifaka has been listed as “Vulnerable” on the IUCN red List.
