Moluccan Flying Fox, Pteropus chrysoproctus

The Moluccan flying fox (Pteropus chrysoproctus), also known as the Ambon flying fox, is a species of megabat that can be found in Indonesia. Its range includes the Maluku Islands, Ambon, Buru, and Seram Island. It prefers a habitat within forests at elevations of up to 820 feet above sea level. The range of this species is relatively small, reaching 12,427 miles, and it is threatened by habitat loss due to logging. Because of this threat and the threat of hunting, the Moluccan flying fox appears on the IUCN Red List with a conservation status of “Near Threatened.”
