The Konik, Konik polski, is a small Polish horse that is semi-wild. It has been released into many nature reserves and parks in the Netherlands to help keep landscape open. They are big grazers and when kept without supplemental feeding, mainly in the winter, they can alter the landscape to produce more park-like forest.
The Konik is short. At shoulder height it stands only 52.75 inches. The head is light colored, chest is deep, thick mane, and the hide is gray like a mouse. Some breeds of konik show primitive features as well. Some have a dun coat and dorsal stripe.
