The Red-footed tortoise, Geochelone carbonaria, known in Brazil as Jabuti, is a tortoise from South America. They live in tropical forests and grasslands in northern South America and some islands of the Caribbean.
It draws its name from the red and orange scales visible on its limbs, as well as its head and tail. It is protected by CITES* as an endangered species.
