Gunther’s Burrowing Snake

Gunther’s Burrowing Snake, Plectrurus guentheri, is a species of snake found in the Western Ghats of India. It is named after Albert Gunther (1830-1914), German-born zoologist at the British Museum.

The length was described to be about 13 inches long with a circumference of 1.8 inches. The body color is bright reddish-purple with a yellow
belly. The yellow rises up the sides of the trunk into regular pyramid-shaped markings.
