Belgian Shepherd (Laekenois)
The Belgian Shepherd (Laekenois) is a variety of the Belgian Shepherd recognized by its wooly brown and white coat. The Laekenois, like other varieties of Belgian Shepherd is square-proportioned and medium-sized with large, pointy, triangular ears. This particular variety or breed is not fully recognized in the United States.
The Laekenois is a hard worker. Its name is derived from the lake district of Belgium. It is the rarest variety of Belgian Shepherd. There are only three genes that separate the Belgian Shepherd varieties genetically.
