Theoretical Chemistry Accounts

Theoretical Chemistry Accounts: Theory, Computation, and Modeling is a peer-reviewed scientific journal founded in 1962 as Theoretica Chimica Acta. It is published by Springer Berlin Heidelberg. As of May 2012, the editor-in-chief is Christopher J. Cramer, associate editor is Roi Baer, and chief advisory editor is Donald G. Truhlar.

When published as Theoretica Chimica Acta, the journal has an unusual policy of requiring all articles being published in either English, German, or French. Also, unusual for a modern science journal, it published Latin written articles as well. However, only one article ever appeared in Latin — “Modus Computandi Eigenvectores et Eigenaestimationes e Matrice Densitatis,” written by T.K. Lim, and M.A. Whitehead from McGill University in Canada (1967).

The journal publishes original research and review articles in theoretical chemistry, quantum chemistry, and computational chemistry. Fundamental studies as well as applications are included in the scope. In many cases, theorists and computational chemists have special concerns which reach either across the vertical borders of the special disciplines in chemistry or else across the horizontal borders of structure, spectra, synthesis, and dynamics. TCA is especially interested in papers that impact upon multiple chemical disciplines.

TCA also publishes overviews, either of a coherent body of work or of an especially rapidly developing subfield of theoretical or computational chemistry. It also publishes regular articles reporting original work. Such articles contain full details of the theory and/or computations.
