The African Alpine Bamboo (Yushania alpina) is a species of perennial bamboo that is native to tropical Africa. It grows in dense stands on the mountains and volcanoes surrounding the Great Rift Valley between 8200 feet and 11,000 feet above sea level.

The grass stems of the alpine bamboo are often used as fencing, plumbing and other building materials.
