Amanda’s Pennant, Celithemis amanda
Amandaâ€™s pennant (Celithemis amanda) is a species of dragonfly that is native to North America, with a range that extends along the coast from eastern areas of Texas to South Carolina. It prefers habitat within marshy areas in lakes and ponds with abundant vegetation. This species can be recognized by its colorful markings, which can be brown, amber, or red in color along the base of the wings. The thorax of this species is yellow in color and does not typically hold any other markings until individuals mature, when brown markings may appear. Older males can hold a brown, yellow, or red face. Amandaâ€™s pennant is typically seen between the months of January to September.
