BlackBerry Torch

The BlackBerry Torch is a line of smartphones produced by Research In Motion (RIM); models are the Torch 9800, 9810, 9850, and the 9860, all using the BlackBerry OS. The Torch has been hailed as the best BlackBerry ever, but still lags behind in the smartphone industry. The Torch as compared to other Blackberry phones has many improvements such as, a better user interface, improved browser, and more readable screen.

The BlackBerry Torch was first considered in April, 2010, with a prototype being released in early summer of the same year. On August 3, 2010, the Torch 9800 became available using the AT&T network. It featured a physical QWERTY slide out keyboard and used BlackBerry OS 6. Over 100,000 phones were sold in the first week of release. On August 3, 2011, the remaining Torches were announced. Those included 9810, 9850, and 9860, and all use the BlackBerry OS 7.

BlackBerry Torch 9800:

The 9800 runs on the BlackBerry OS 6 using a Marvell PXA940 624 Mhz CPU. The display is a 3.2 inch touch screen. The camera is a 5.0 MP with flash, 2x digital zoom with auto focus and video recording capabilities up to 480p resolution. The battery is a removable/rechargeable lithium-ion cell with 18 days GSM or 14 days UMTS standby and 5.5 hours GSM or 5.8 hours UMTS talk time. It features GPS with maps, Bluetooth, and connects with 3G networks, and is Wi-Fi capable.

BlackBerry Torch 9810:

The 9810 runs on the BlackBerry OS 7 using a Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8655 1.2 GHz CPU. Internal storage is 8 GB with a microSD slot and has 768 MB RAM. The display is a 3.2 inch touch screen. The camera is a 5.0 MP with flash, 4x digital zoom with auto focus and video recording capabilities up to 720p resolution. The battery is a removable/rechargeable lithium-ion polymer with 12.8 days GSM or 12.3 days UMTS standby and 6.9 hours GSM or 5.9 hours UMTS talk time. It has 54 hours of music and 7 hours of video playback time. It features an enhanced GPS with maps, Bluetooth, and connects with 3G networks, and is Wi-Fi capable.

BlackBerry Torch 9850:

The 9850 runs on the BlackBerry OS 7 using a Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8655 1.2 GHz CPU. Internal storage is 4 GB with a microSD slot and has 768 MB RAM. The display is a 3.7 inch touch screen. The camera is a 5.0 MP with flash, 4x digital zoom with auto focus and video recording capabilities up to 720p resolution. The battery is a removable/rechargeable lithium-ion polymer with 13.4 days GSM or 11.8 days UMTS standby and 6.8 hours GSM or 6.1 hours UMTS talk time. It has 50.2 hours of music and 6.6 hours of video playback time. It features an enhanced GPS with maps, Bluetooth, and connects with 3G networks, and is Wi-Fi capable.

BlackBerry Torch 9860:

The 9850 runs on the BlackBerry OS 7 using a Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8655 1.2 GHz CPU. Internal storage is 4 GB with a microSD slot and has 768 MB RAM. The display is a 3.7 inch touch screen. The camera is a 5.0 MP with flash, 4x digital zoom with auto focus and video recording capabilities up to 720p resolution. The battery is a removable/rechargeable lithium-ion polymer with 13.9 days GSM or 13.5 days UMTS standby and 4.7 hours GSM or 6.8 hours UMTS talk time. It has 44 hours of music and 6.6 hours of video playback time. It features an enhanced GPS with maps, Bluetooth, and connects with 3G networks, and is Wi-Fi capable.

Available accessories for the Torch are cases, batteries, screen protectors, charging pods, wall, USB and automobile chargers, headsets, memory cards, and Bluetooth devices. Along with many pre-installed software like, Facebook, YouTube, and Twitter, users can choose and download hundreds of other apps right from a computer using a USB connection.
