Kobo Touch

The Kobo Touch is an eReader device produced by Kobo Inc., from China, revealed on May 23, 2011, and released in the U.S. on June 10, 2011. It is the third generation eReader from Kobo, and contained improvements from the previous versions. The Kobo Touch included 15 free previews of select books instead of 100 public domain books that were included on the previous versions. Other improvements were an E Ink pearl screen, faster CPU, and it was smaller and lighter.

The display is a six-inch touchscreen. It uses a 800 Mhz CPU, has a 2GB storage capacity but only 1GB is for content. It has a Micro USB port, a MicroSD port for up to a 32GB card, and is Wi-Fi capable. Battery life is up to one month depending on use. Compatible text formats are RTF, HTML, TXT, and Comic Book Archive file. Compatible image formats include JPEG, PNG, BMP, GIF, and TIFF.

There are approximately 500,000 premium books and 1.8 million free books available for the Kobo Touch. The Touch can store up to 30,000 eBooks or documents on an SDcard or 1,000 internally, which can be purchased and downloaded directly onto the device.

Page turn style and fonts can be customized and with access to a local library, the user can borrow library eBooks through Wi-Fi. Kobo also offers apps for your smartphone, tablet, or computer that will sync your Kobo Touch with the device.
