Barnes & Noble Nook
The Nook is a brand of e-reader developed by Barnes & Noble with the original device released in November 2009. It featured both Wi-Fi and AT&T 3G, with a 6 inch display and a smaller touchscreen for data input. Since then there has been multiple versions and upgrades.
A Wi-Fi only version released in June 2010 and the Nook color using LCD in November 2010. The second generation Nook was released in June 2011, and in February 2012 an upgrade was released to the Wi-Fi only version. On April 30, 2012, Barnes & Noble partnered with Microsoft for the collage and business Nook. In October 2012, Nook became available in the UK.
There are four generations of the Nook. The original called Nook (discontinued), the Nook Simple Touch, the Nook Color, and the Nook Tablet, The Nook comes in three models, the Nook with a 6-inch screen and 2 GB storage. The Nook HD comes with a 7-inch screen and either 8 GB or 16 GB of storage. The Nook HD + comes with a 9-inch screen and either 16 GB or 32 GB of storage.
All models have Wi-Fi, a micro-USB connector, and a micro-SD slot for a memory card. Also, it has parental controls with just-for-kids apps. It has high speed web-browsing, e-mail, and calendar sync. It supports a variety of file formats for audio, video, images, and other formats.
Nook Study is an application designed for PC use only.
Other apps available for the Nook include games like Angry Birds, Netflix, and Twitter, plus thousands more. Movies and TV shows can be downloaded or streamed for a rental fee or purchase. Millions of books and magazines are available to choose from, and free unlimited Nook content storage on Nook Cloud.
Included accessories are a power adapter and a rechargeable battery. Available accessories include, covers, power kits, pens, HDTV adapters, car chargers, screen glare kits, SanDisk Cards from 2GB to 16GB, stands, and cables.
