Apollo 11 Moon Plaque

Closeup view of the plaque which the Apollo 11 astronauts will leave behind on the moon is commemoration of the historic event. The plaque is made of stainless steel measuring nine by seven and five-eighths inches, and one-sixteenth inch thick. The plaque will be attached to the ladder on the landing gear strut on the descent stage of the Apollo 11 Lunar Module. Covering the plaque during flight will be a thin sheet of stainless steel which will be removed on the lunar surface. Posted on: 28 Apr, 2003
