The Amistad Reservior is located on the Rio Grande and ensures water flow through the river to communities downstread of it, including the city of Brownsville, Texas. Due in part to the sustained drought in the area for the past several years, water levels in Amistad are dramatically lower than in the past, as shown by this pair of Landsat images.
