Pakistan and India are featured in this MODIS, Terra image, acquired Jly 4, 2006. The black lines denote country borders. Afghanistan is in the upper left, and China in the upper right, but mainly Pakistan (on the left) and India (on the right) are visible. They are separated by the wide swath of the snow-covered Himilayan Mountains.
On the Pakistan side is the Indus River. On the Indian side is Kashmir, a region disputed by India and Pakistan. The city of Islamabad, the capital of Pakistan, is visible on the image; It is just south and east of the vaguely triangular shaped lake, and north and west of the piece of Pakistan that just into India.
The red dots on the image represent active fires in the region.
