Spring Snow in New England and Eastern Canada

A spring snowfall dusted the ground in New England and eastern Canada on March 30, 2008. The MODIS on the Terra satellite captured this image on the same day. Most of New York state was covered, except for its southeast tip. The snowline also cuts through the middle of Massachusetts. Vermont and New Hampshire are totally snow-covered.

The St. Lawrence River runs diagonally across the image, starting from the top right. It actually flows west to northeast, carrying drainage from the Great Lakes towards the Atlantic Ocean. The river originates at the outflow of Lake Ontario, in the lower left corner. Part of Lake Erie is just visible in the corner, as well.
