On April 7, 2008, smoke from hundreds of fires mingled with clouds over eastern India (left), Myanmar (center), and China (right). Black lines show the country borders.
Locations where the MODIS on NASA’s Aqua satellite detected fires are marked in red. Most of the fires are likely human-caused, either agricultural fires or accidental forest fires.
