A relatively clear day over New Mexico, gave the MODIS on the Aqua satellite this view on June 3, 2008. New Mexico, located in the southwestern part of the United States, has a varied landscape ranging from mountains to desert, and even some heavily forested areas. It is bordered by Oklahoma (east), Texas (east and South), Mexico (south), Arizona (west), and Colorado (north).
The Rio Grande River runs down the center of the state with towns like Socorro, and its capital, Albuquerque located along the river. There are many mountain ranges - significant are the Sangre de Christo Mountains which run from New Mexico into Colorado in the north.
