Several bushfires were burning in state and national parks in the eastern corner of Victoria on in late March 2009. This image was captured March 29 by the MODIS on the Aqua satellite, but the fires were still burning as of March 31, 2009, spreading smoke across southward towards Flinders Island. The fires are marked in red, though most of them are easy to spot because of the visible plumes of smoke.
The fires are not expected to pose a danger to any communities. Though the fires continued to burn into April, predicted storms due around april 3rd and 4th should help with efforts to put the fires out.
