Southern Greenland

The MODIS on the Terra satellite captured this image of southern Greenland on October 7, 2009. Greenland is located between the Arctic Ocean (to the north) and the Atlantic Ocean - most of the year it is covered in ice and snow. During the summer, parts of the coastline can thaw. Here, part of the southern coastline is brown and lacks snow.
