This Advanced Synthetic Aperture Radar (ASAR) multitemporal color composite image shows an area of 100 Km swath width centered over Mexico City, one of the world's most populated cities, the large bright area at lower left. Today, the estimated population of Mexico City is between 25 and 30 million people. Mexico City's Benito Juárez International Airport, visible at the northeastern edge of the city, once far from the city center, is today placed in a thickly settled area. Visible to the south of the city are numerous dormant volcanoes. Mexico City is situated in a very active seismological zone, and earthquakes are felt regularly in the capital.
