The Brussels-Capital Region of Belgium is located towards the centre of the country and has almost a million inhabitants. It is shown here in a view from France's Spot-5 satellite High-Resolution Visible – Infrared (HRVIR) instrument. Visible towards the centre of the conurbation is the 'Petit Ring' circular road system. Notable to its north-east is the white rooftop of Brussels Airport and black surrounding runways.
