This MERIS (MEdium Resolution Imaging Spectrometer) image shows Southern and Central Sweden. To the far right of the image, peeking out beneath the clouds is the country's capital, Stockholm. Sweden's (and Norway's) numerous lakes can clearly be seen in the image, the most prominent being Vanern and Vattern in the center of the image. These are the largest and second largest lakes in Sweden respectively. Vanern is also the third largest lake in Europe. On the eastern coast of the country is the second city, Goteborg; it is also the country's principal port.
