This Medium Resolution Imaging Spectrometer (MERIS) Image, displays northern Portugal and the provinces of Galicia, Asturias and Castilla Y Len in North West Spain. Half way up the coast of the image we can see the Portuguese city of Porto in grey tones. Into Spain, in the far north west is the city of La Coruna, and on the northern coast Oviedo, Gijn and further to the east Santander. WIthin Spain's interior we can also see Valladolid. Valladolid lies on the complex river tributary system of the Douro. The river rises in north-central Spain flowing for nearly 900 km before it reaches the Atlantic Ocean. For 100 km it delineates the northeastern boundary between Spain and Portugal.
