This Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) multitemporal color composite image is centered over the city of London, the capital of both England and the United Kingdom. Of European cities, London, with over seven million inhabitants in the Greater London area, is second only to Moscow in population. It is the European Union's largest city. Visible also are the River Thames that flows (from west to east) through London on its way to the North Sea; to the southwest of the city Heathrow Airport (thick black lines) can be seen. The image is made of three ERS-2 SAR PRI (Precision Radar Image) images acquired on different dates and assigning a color (RGB) to each date of acquisition.
