It's a clear winter day over much of Ireland that this Medium Resolution Imaging Spectrometer image shows. The green fields of central and eastern Ireland give the "Emerald Isle" its characteristic color, in contrast to the rugged western coast notable for the mountainous regions of Mayo, Connemara and Kerry to the southwest. On the east coast the city of Dublin can be seen with the Wicklow Mountains to the south. To the north the city of Belfast is visible with Lough Neagh to its west. In the central region the Lakes along the Shannon can be observed.
