January 19, 2006
This Envisat ASAR radar multicolor composite image was acquired over the city of Dhaka (large bright area), the capital of Bangladesh.

The city is situated on Buriganga, a channel of the Dhaleswari River, in the populous and flood-prone delta of the Ganges (flows from west to east) and Brahmaputra rivers (flows north to south). The topography of the area is exceedingly flat, low-lying, and subject to annual flooding, which waters deposit much fertile, alluvial soil. The image is made of three ASAR images acquired on different dates and assigning a color ( RGB ) to each date.
