This ASAR wide-swath multitemporal color composite image is centered over the city capital of Cairo, Egypt (bright area center left) and the Suez Canal (right).

The Nile River visible in the left portion of the image flows from south to north dividing the Libyan Desert (west) and the Arabian Desert (east).

The various colors along the valley of the Nile River and the Nile Delta (upper portion of the image) indicates fertile soil with different cultivations. The Cairo International Airport is to the northeast of Cairo (2 thick black lines). The circular patterns further east of the airport are irrigated cultivated fields.

On the right side of the image starting from the lower right corner is the Red Sea, the feeds into the Suez Canal and empties into the Mediterranean Sea (top right). The colorful dots visible in both seas are sea vessels and the color corresponds to each date the image was acquired by the satellite.

The image is made of three ASAR images acquired on different dates and assigning a color ( RGB ) to each date. Dates of Acquisition: Red : 22 March 2004, Green : 16 September 2003, Blue : 16 June 2003
