This Medium Resolution Imaging Spectrometer (MERIS) false color image, is of the Balearic Islands. The group of islands represents an autonomous region and province of eastern Spain. In the center of the image is the largest of the islands, Mallorca, with nearly 750,000 people it is also the most populated. The capital of the province is Palma situated on the western coast of this island. To the southwest of Mallorca is Ibiza and to the northeast Minorca. The fourth of the larger islands is Formentara to the south of Ibiza. On the Spanish mainland we can see the cities of Barcelona to the north and Valencia in the center.
