This image features the Patagonia region of Argentina. An area covering 670 000 square kilometers, Patagonia includes one of the world's largest deserts. Elevated highland sections of the Patagonian Plateau are visible along most of the eastern coast. In the overcast western area of the scene is the Andes mountain range. In the north, the Valdes Peninsula is a valuable are of wildlife and provides habitat for the southern elephant seal, sea lion and right whale.
