India and Pakistan
This image was acquired by the MODIS on the Aqua satellite on March 6, 2007. MODIS detected several fires in the area, which are represented by red dots. This image is actually the crossroads of several different countries.
The right side of the image is predominantly northwest India. The city of New Delhi is visible as a big gray patch in the green part of India south of the mountains. North of India is China.
To the west is the country of Pakistan, with its equally varied landscape. West of Pakistan is Afghanistan. Black lines show where the country borders are. Much of the region, particularly the mountainous parts are covered in snow.
