Bay of Bengal Wave Pattern
March 31, 2003
Wave patterns in the Bay of Bengal are seen in this 18 by 15 km ASTER sub-scene, acquired on March 29, 2000. The visible and near-infrared bands highlight surface waves due to specular reflection of sunlight off of the wave faces. Two opposing wave trains interfere in the right half of the image, producing the pattern seen there.
