New Camera for Hubble

May 29, 2009
In Kennedy's Payload Hazardous Processing Facility an overhead crane lifts Hubble's Wide Field Camera 3 out of its shipping container and transfers to a work stand.

As Hubble enters the last stage of its life, the camera will be the next evolutionary step, allowing the telescope to peer ever further into the mysteries of the cosmos.

The Wide Field Camera 3 will study a diverse range of objects and phenomena from young and extremely distant galaxies and nearby stellar systems, to objects within our own solar system.
