A fourth grader at the Glenallen Elementary School in Silver Spring
June 1, 2010
A fourth grader at the Glenallen Elementary School in Silver Spring, MD searches for microorganisms from the leaves she placed in a pond several days earlier in the Gatorville Outdoor Classroom adjacent to the school. The students and their teacher Kristi Cameron collaborated to build Gatorville with a small grant from the Chesapeake Bay Foundation. The project won Cameron a Presidential Award for Mathematics and Science Teaching in 2001, which is administered in part by the National Science Foundation.
