Healthy Untreated White Blood Cells from a Mouse (Slide 3) The compound 13-D selectively induces cell death in cancerous white blood cells, while non-cancerous white blood cells are unaffected. These images show that U-937 (lymphoma) cells are almost completely obliterated by 13-D, while the same concentration of this compound has no effect on actively growing, non-cancerous white blood cells. This compound is known to induce death in the cancerous cells through apoptosis.
