The WhaleNet program uses whales, seals and other marine mammals as "hooks" to engage students in classroom science activities that involve critical thinking, mathematics, geography and research. The National Science Foundation supports programs like WhaleNet to integrate education and science, providing students with real data and information on how to go about interpreting them.
