SPICE (Image 1) A Science Partners for Inquiry-based Collaborative Education (SPICE) participant nets for macroinvertebrates. Now in its second track of funding by the National Science Foundation (grant DGE 05-38407), SPICE was created to train University of Florida (UF) graduate students in teaching and to foster inquiry-based learning of science, technology, engineering and mathematics in Gainesville's under-resourced middle schools. SPICE is a collaboration of individuals from different departments, colleges, centers and schools at UF, who are teamed with six middle schools and the public schools of Alachua County. Graduate students from UF work in the classroom with middle school teachers to guide students on an exploratory quest about ecosystem health. (Date of Image: 2003-2005) [One of 3 related images.
