REU Niwot Ridge

REU Niwot Ridge NSF-funded Research Experiences for Undergraduates Program participants atop Niwot Ridge, west of Boulder, Colo. The program is based at the University of Colorado's Mountain Research Station. Niwot Ridge is also the site of an NSF funded Long Term Ecological Research (LTER) project and is a Biosphere Reserve. The picture is taken looking northwest from Niwot Ridge over Lake Isabelle, toward Pawnee Peak and the continental divide. The area in the background is in the Indian Peaks Wilderness Area, Arapaho and Roosevelt National Forests. (Date of Image: July 2003)
