HPWREN Photo - Raven

HPWREN Photo - Raven This photo was taken by an automatic motion-detect camera at the High Performance Wireless Research and Education Network (HPWREN)-connected California Wolf Center in San Diego County, Calif. Ravens are often seen stuffing themselves with food intended for the wolf residents. HPWREN collaborated with the Wolf Center to install a near-real-time Web camera on the grounds that will allow researchers and staff the unique opportunity of observing the wolf's behavior, undisturbed. Many motion-detect wolf photos are available at http://hpwren.ucsd.edu. HPWREN is a National Science Foundation funded network research program that also functions as a collaborative cyberinfrastructure on research, education and first responder activities. It includes creating, demonstrating and evaluating a non-commercial, prototype, high-performance, wide-area, wireless network in San Diego, Riverside and Imperial counties. The network includes backbone nodes at the University of California, San Diego, and San Diego State University campuses, and a number of "hard to reach" areas in remote environments.
