Dynamics of Coupled Natural and Human Systems

July 1, 2010
Dynamics of Coupled Natural and Human Systems The dynamics of suburban land-use and land-cover patterns and how they affect aquatic life and water quantity and quality will be studied by the National Science Foundation's Dynamics of Coupled Natural and Human Systems (CNH) program. The program awarded 12 grants to scientists, engineers and educators at Clark University, the Marine Biological Laboratory, the University of New Hampshire and the University of Georgia, to study coupled natural and human systems. The purpose of the awards is to gain a better understanding of natural processes and cycles, human behavior and decisions, and how they interact. To learn more about the CNH awards, see NSF press release 07-144, "NSF Awards 12 Grants for Research on Coupled Natural and Human Systems." (Date of Image: June 2006)
