ND EPSCoR (Image 2) Native American students make composite materials in the materials lab of the Red River History Exhibition at the Hjemkomst Center in Moorhead, Minn. The students were working on a week-long project under the guidance of Dr. Chad Ulvens and Dr. Katie Zhong, both in the mechanical engineering department at the University of North Dakota. The students were participating in the North Dakota Experimental Program to Stimulate Competitive Researchs (ND EPSCoR) NATURE (Nurturing American Tribal Undergraduate Research and Education) Program summer camp. The NATURE Program helps build the pathway for American Indians in the pursuit of careers related to science, technology, engineering and mathematics, from grades K-12 to the tribal colleges to baccalaureate institutions to graduate schools. The program capitalizes on previous North Dakota EPSCoR and university investments. To learn more about ND EPSCoR, visit the program Web site. General information about the NSF EPSCoR Program is available Here. (Date of Image: June 2007) [Image 2 of 3 related images. See Image 3.]
