Tiled Wall Image

July 2, 2010
Tiled Wall Image Brain researchers explore an expansive image of the cerebellum using a computing cluster-driven "biowall," allowing examination of images at more than ten times the extent of high definition television images. This allows researchers to find small structures responsible for communication between brain images in their context of the organization of cells that make up this region of the brain. This research was performed as part of the Biomedical Informatics Research Network, or BIRN. BIRN is probably the most mature and complete example of an "end to end" cyberinfrastructure for a science community. It is built on tools developed under the National Science Foundation (NSF) programs for cyberinfrastructure, including those of the originating NSF-PACI program. Further information about BIRN is available Here. (Date of Image: unknown)
