Single-walled Carbon Nanotubes
July 12, 2010
Single-walled carbon nanotubes can be used as electrical wires on the molecular scale. When a molecule is bound to such a wire, structural changes and chemical binding events modulate the current. The nanotube is sensitive to such events on a single molecule level. The device is used to track the time course of chemistry, molecular recognition, enzymatic activity and nano-catalysis.
