Nico, a humanoid robot. The humanoid robot Nico, was designed to match the body structure of the average 1-year-old male child in the fiftieth-percentile. Developed in the lab of Brian Scassellati, an associate professor in Yale University's department of computer science, Nico is being used in a modeling effort to describe the developmental progression of social skills in human infants. Nico was constructed under National Science Foundation (NSF) Faculty Early Career Development (CAREER) award IIS 02-38334, and has been used in research pertaining to NSF grants IIS 05-34610 and SES 08-35767.
