Phagocytosis and Endocytosis

How material is transported from outside of the cell to the cell nucleus: (1) Phagocytosis and endocytosis--the cell membrane pinches together, and thereby forms an intracellular membrane-bound compartment, called a phagosome or endosome, that contains extracellular material; (2) the phagosome travels from the cell membrane to the nucleus; and (3) the phagosome is engulfed by the nucleus, and then releases its contents into the nucleus.
