Cratered Terrain in Isidis Planitia (PSP_009322_1920)
July 28, 2010
This image repeats part of the coverage of a previous image (PSP_002347_1915) that was acquired to search for the lost Beagle 2 lander. However, the first image was acquired near equinox (subsolar latitude near equator) and this new image was acquired near northern summer solstice (subsolar latitude near 25 N). As a result, the lighting angles are different, and comparison of the two images provides new information about the morphology of the surface.
